KASAPREKO DONATES TO NKUSUKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL
The management of Kasepreko Company Limited, last Tuesday donated assorted drinks and cash of GH¢1,000 to the Nkusukum Traditional Council as its support to the Odambea Festival.
The items, which comprised 10 cartons of Kasapreko drinks, 50 pieces of branded T-shirts, 12 pieces of branded umbrella’s and a box of branded car air refreshment, were received by Nana Kwesi Brebo III, the acting Paramount Chief of the Nkusukum Traditional Area on behalf of the Council.
The donation was to support the chiefs and people of the Nkusukum as they celebrate the Odambea Festival.
The Kasapreko team noted the gesture was to reiterate their commitment to preserving and enhancing our tradition, saying festivals remains a very important asset in our heritage and thus shjould be given the accorded support and attention.
Nkusukum traditional paramouncy comprises of the following towns, Saltpond, Yamoransa, Biriwa, Abonko, Akatakyiwa, Anokyi and Mankessim, all in the Mfansteman Municipality in the Central Region.
The significance of the celebration is to mark the migration of the people from Takyiman to Mankessim which also marks the beginning of food harvesting.
Nana Kwesi Brebo III, expressed gratitrude to Kasapreko and promise entreated other organizations to follow in their footsteps.
ODAMBEA FESTIVAL
The youth have being challenged to desist from the current trend of immoral acts such as
homosexuality, internet fraud or sakawa and the gross disrespect for the elderly in the society.
This was disclosed in a speech given by Nana Kwesi Brebo III, the acting paramount chief of the
Inkusukum Traditional Area during the grand durbar of the Chiefs at this year’s Odambea festival at
Saltpond in the Central Region of Ghana
He continued to urge the youth to be hardworking and disciplined, blaming the high incidence of
indiscipline among both the young and old on total negligence of our cultural heritage.
Nana Kwesi Brebo III also pleaded to the state to ensure an increase in the security of the people in
the Mfansteman municipality especially Mankessim due to the recent killings in the area and asked for
perpetrators to be severely dealt with.
The grand durbar of the chiefs which took place last Saturday at the Victoria Park, Saltpond was to
climax activities commemorating this year’s Odambea festival
Central regional Minister Hon. Ama Benyiwa Doe, in an address advocated for unity among the chiefs
sighting the rampant disputes over land and chieftaincy as a major hindrance to development in the
region.
She also to promise the gathering of the governments dedication towards making their lives better by
creating more jobs in the area and promised works on some major roads will be commencing soon.
Hon. Aquinas Tawiah Quansah the Dept. Minister for Local Government and Rural Development who
doubles as the M.P. for Mfansteman West in a speech promised to refurbish the Victoria Park into a
modern entertainment complex by next year.
The keynote address which was delivered by the minster for Chieftaincy and Culture Hon. Alexander
Asum-Ahensah reiterated government’s position to distance it’s self from chieftaincy matters as
stipulated in the constitution.
This year’s festival enjoyed massive attendance filling Saltpond with endless fun & entertainment
ranging from the Akwaaba street jams to “Twui” a net pulling competition for the fisher folks which was
the first of its kind to be organised during such festivals. Other activities included a Health walk, Cow
parade and a Boat Regatta.
Some of the finest artiste in the musical industry including Mzbel, Keche, Guru, Rana, Atsu Koliko, and
Danso Abiam among others lit up the stage with breath Taking performance during the Akwaaba Bash
on the Friday, whiles K.K. Fosu, Kofi Nti and Kofi treated their audience to some fine contemporary
highlife music at the State Dance on Saturday Evening.
In an interview, Mr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey “Santana” the C.E.O. for Strategic Communications Limited;
the official event organisers of the festival he revealed the need for us to also remember our roots as
the main motivation behind the organization of the festival.
As a son of the land I see this as an opportunity to use my current position to give back to the
community; he stated.
He explained further that, the opportunities presented during such festivals go a long way to benefit
each and everyone by bringing the people good income through trade and tourism whiles creating jobs
for the youth.
Mr. Aggrey pledged to continue his benevolence and promised even a bigger and better festival next
year.

23rd Goil Seniors Amateur Open Golf Championship held at Nsuta
The
secretary of Ghana Golf Association, Lee Mensah says golf as a
discipline should not be viewed as a preserve of the wealthy and well to
do in the society and called on the public to disabuse their minds of
this notion so as to promote the sport and develop the youth in the
playing of golf across the country. He made this known in an interview
during the 23rd Goil Seniors Amateur Open Golf Championship at Nsuta in the Western region
It was spectacular at Nsuta Golf course where the old folks and the youth displayed their wonderful skills in an open golf tournament. The serene nature of the pitch and the general environment was welcoming to stimulate and stir the fever of golf. The three hour tourney saw participants from achimota, obuasi, tarkwa, Kumasi, nsuta and other parts of the country competiting for honors at the 23rd Goil Seniors Amateur Open Golf Championship at Nsuta. Some of these golfers who were having fun were treated to some of the popular local tunes as some were in a chatty mood nodding their heads in total joy. At the end of the tourney S.K. Nartey from Obuasi golf club was adjudged the overall winner of the handicap competition all other deserving participants were presented with trophies and petroleum products from GOIL, the title sponser of the golf tourney, by the president of Ghana Golf Association, Dr. Felix Frimpong, the Managing Director of the Ghana Manganese Company, Mr. Jurgen and the Corporate Affairs manager of Goil Cyril Oppong, Speaking with the secretary of the Ghana Golf Association, Lee Mensah, hinted that a notion has been created that, Golf playing is only meant for the rich and persons of high class in the society. This he said is rather unfortunate perception created around the game.
He said a systematic attempt is being made to rope in the youth at the second cycle level into the game he however entreated the youth to be of good behavior and observe the rules of the golf discipline through this they can get sponsors.
The Corporate Affairs Manager of GOIL Cyril Oppong said the rational behind the over eight sponsorship of the senior golf tourney is part of their corporate social responsibility.

ABIEKU SANTANA AWARDED WITH AN HONORARY DOCTOR OF HUMANITIES
One
of Ghana’s most celebrated radio personalities Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey
popularly known as Abeiku Santana has chalked yet another success for
being awarded with an honorary Doctor of Humanities at an impressive
ceremony in Accra.
The award was presented by the Pan African Clergy Council and Bible Seminary to the ace radio presenter in recognition of his immense contribution to Christian Ministry and Leadership
Apostle Dr. Lloyd Kwesi Annan, the communications director of the awarding institution noted, Santana’s radio presentation over the years has always been spiced up with life transforming religious and leadership speeches
A major trademark of all his radio presentations over the past decade the Apostle explained, centers on the need for the change in the attitude of the Christian and Ghanaian youth thus he absolutely deserved the honorary doctor of humanities
Dr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey “Santana” was full of praise when he cited dedication and service to God’s Ministry as the motivation behind his presentation style and vigor.
He went ahead to challenge his fellow presenters to let their religious and moral values dominate their broadcast since that remains the catalyst for national discipline stating that most listeners look up to them as role models.
Abeiku
Santana later sent the congregation into a divine realm when he took
over the pulpit to display his exclusive preaching skills.
The event which took place at the Trans Continental Assemblies of God Church saw the patronage of high profiled media personalities who trooped in their numbers to celebrate with the maestro
Abeiku Santana currently presents the mid-afternoon drive on okay fm called “kwanso dwoo dwoo” a program which is fast arresting public interest due to a segment he created called “akika akika”.
He is currently the C.E.O of Strategic Communications and also doubles as the communications manager for Local Enterprise and Skill Development Program (LESDEP).

EVERPURE CHAMPIONS EDUCATION
Mr
Peter Narh, Managing Director of Everpure Ghana Limited, producers of
Everpure Purified Drinking Water, who made the call, said education was
the only medium through, which the nation could harness the potentials
of the youth, create wealth and reduce poverty.
He
was speaking to journalists at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi after he
presented a cheque for GH¢2,000.00 water dispensers, 80 cartons of
Everpure bottled water and exotic drinks to authorities of the Otumfuo
Education Fund.
Mr Narh called for effective partnership between organisations and government to create the right conditions for academic work.
He said the company was working hard to expand its production and had acquired a 20-acre land at Juaben to boost its operation.
Mr Ernest Saahene of the office of the Asantehene, who received the cheque and items, thanked the company for the gesture.
