Photos: Samsung, Yaw Preko Inspires Young Footballers to Continue to Dream @ Samsung "Dream Camp"

Electronics giant  Samsung  has inspired  aspiring  young footballers to continue  dreaming at the stage three of the 'I See Your Dreams Campaign' at the Lizzy Sports Complex.

The exciting and fun filled event saw students from Kotobabi 3 & 4 schools engage in various activities  with local football legend and former Black Stars winger and AFCON bronze medalist, Yaw Preko.

Yaw Preko, who is also the head coach of the National U21 men's soccer team  took the young footballers through a football clinic where they were take through some professional football coaching and training. He also gave team a motivational speech to believe and keep dreaming. He also advised them to be disciplined and take their studies in school serious.

The two schools later clashed in friendly football match with Kotobabi 4 emerging victorious . Both teams were however presented with trophies from Samsung for their participation.

The day was climaxed with the viewing of the Black Stars game against  Algeria in the 2nd group stage game of the ongoing AFCON 2015 where the young footballers enjoyed the game with their football icon, Yaw Preko.

The day came to a perfect ending as Ghana's captain, 'Baby Jet' Asamoah Gyan clinched a crucial last minute goal to seal victory for Ghana to keep the Black Stars' hope of qualifying to the next stage of the competition alive.

SAMSUNG CORPORATE LEAGUE ENDS IN ACCRA

The second edition of the Samsung Corporate League has just ended at the Lizzy Sports Complex, with Forewin Ghana Limited and Azar Group emerging as champions for the Premiership and Championship leagues respectively.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, the Marketing Manager for Consumer Electronics at Samsung Electronics West Africa, Mr. Richard Nunekpeku reiterated Samsung’s interest in contributing to the competition. He stated “We at Samsung strive for a healthy and a fit working environment and believe the Samsung Corporate Football League provides the corporate community with these vital prerequisites. We also view consistent sports sponsorship as a vital way of contributing to sports world both in Ghana and the rest of the world.”

He continued to reaffirm Samsung’s interest in the development of the beautiful game and said the electronics giants have played a key role in sports development on the Africa continent in recent years with its flagship annual youth sports programme dubbed ‘Samsung-Chelsea Youth Football Clinic’. This activity gives young children a unique opportunity to be part of the famous Chelsea Football Training Programme.

“Samsung’s sponsorship of the Chelsea Football Club, IAAF World Championship games, the London Games of 2012, the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and the African Cup of Nations all bear testimony to our commitment to sports all over the world”, Richard added.

The event which is under the management of Marcel Desailly Investment Ltd, is aimed at providing companies and working individuals with a platform to engage in structured competition. It is also to promote the health and well-being of the participants and help promote team building by facilitating the involvement and commitment of every player towards the achievement of results. The Corporate League also seeks to provide networking opportunities, foster teamwork, build morale, general exercise and is designed for only gainfully employed persons above the age of 25.

This year’s edition of the Samsung Corporate Football League saw the participation of 28 corporate organizations split into two leagues of 14 teams each.
