Samsung Electronics Ghana has donated an amount of 25,000USD (GHC 50,000) to over 380 cardio patients who are on the waiting list of the National Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital.
The donation comes as a response to a front-page story of the Daily Graphic of September 18, 2013, which announced the touching story of the 380 cardio patients who are yet to receive financial support to enable them undergo their respective surgeries.
Presenting the cheque, Jaspreet Singh, Business leader at Samsung Ghana said Samsung has always wanted to improve livelihoods of the people in the communities where they operate and saw this as a critical area that requires urgent attention and also as a gesture towards saving the lives of many. “We were really touched by the story on the front page of the Daily Graphic, and knowing that so many people lacked the financial support to undergo such a crucial surgery, Samsung Ghana decided to give back to our cherished citizens especially to the children who are on the waiting list. We hope that this donation coupled with others from various stakeholders will save a lot of lives.”
