Vodafone Foundation’s Healthline 255 opens to a positive response

HealthLine 255, Ghana’s first medical call centre introduced by the Vodafone Foundation, has received over 9,000 calls in less than one month.

Besides providing expert medical advice and dispelling myths surrounding health, HealthLine 255 has been educating callers against self-medication and encouraging early diagnosis and treatment. The most frequently reported medical conditions include malaria, depression, body pains, abdominal pains and sexual related challenges.

In an interview with Clinical Director of Healthline 255, Dr. Byrite Asamoah, said “Healthline 255 has come to satisfy a greater medical need for Ghanaians by providing expert medical advice and health information helps people make the best informed decisions about their health. Everyday people make choices about their health from what they eat to whether or not to consult a doctor or practice self-medication”.


By dialing 255, Vodafone customers will have access to expert medical advice at 1 Ghana pesewa per minute every day from 4pm to 10pm. Healthline 255 is an extension of Vodafone Ghana’s award winning television programme, Healthline which recently won the CIMG award for the second year in a row as the ‘Best Television Programme of the Year’.
